Adipurush Controversy Gajendra Chauhan Reveals About Mahabharat Dialogue Controversy

Mahabharat Controversy: Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’ is about to be released for 1 week, but the voices of protest against the film are not taking its name. Apart from the star cast of ‘Ramayana’, there are also stars and politicians who have criticized the cast of ‘Adipurush’ and the dialogues spoken by them.

Meanwhile, Gajendra Chauhan, who played the role of Yudhishthira in Mahabharata, has told that there was a ruckus about one of the dialogues of ‘Mahabharat’. Although that matter was resolved in a single day as the makers went straight to the court against the government.

What was that dialogue?
Talking to Aaj Tak, Gajendra told, ‘I remember a press conference was held in Taj Hotel in September 1988 regarding the announcement of Mahabharata. The show was to be aired on TV on 2 October. When it was pre-viewed on Doordarshan, then the present government objected to some of its dialogues. Those dialogues were written by Raj Babbar. In which King Bharat says that ‘Rajpath should be based on merit and not on dynasty’, which was completely read against the current government and demanded to be removed from the show.”

The government objected because
Gajendra told, ‘Mahabharat begins with a scene like the wheel of time. However, there was a dispute regarding this dialogue as well. The government of that time had objected to this scene and said that this wheel of time dialogue was unnecessarily promoting the opposition party. In fact, during the voice-over that comes in the beginning scene, a wheel in the symbolic form of Kalachakra used to move on the screen, which used to be the symbol of Janata Dal. The government demanded his removal and said that the opposition party was getting publicity without any reason.

BR Chopra was adamant
Amidst the ruckus, BR Chopra was adamant that he did not want to change any of these scenes or dialogues. He was very happy with the work of his writers and was in no mood to change anything. He went to the court and kept his point. Believe me, by the night of October 1, he had also taken clearance from the court. Everything happened in a single night and we came in public on 2 October.
