CG Elections 2023: In preparation for the highly anticipated Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha Elections of 2023, both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are holding crucial candidate selection meetings today. These meetings aim to determine the candidates who will represent their respective parties in the upcoming elections.
On one side, the BJP is convening the Central Election Committee meeting in Delhi. This meeting will see the participation of prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda. Alongside them, key party figures such as Pradesh Prabhari Om Prakash Mathuria and Deputy Prabhari Nitin Nabin, as well as State Election In-Charge Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will also be in attendance. The agenda of this gathering is to finalize the names of candidates for the remaining 69 constituencies after previously announcing 21 candidates earlier.
Meanwhile, the Congress party is holding a screening committee meeting at the Rajiv Bhavan in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, starting at 4 PM. This meeting will be chaired by Congress leader Ajay Maken, and its primary focus is the discussion and selection of candidates for the party’s 90 assembly seats in Chhattisgarh. Distinguished Congress leaders, including committee members like Neeta D’Souza, Sadashay Netam, Hanumanthaiya, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij, Pradesh Prabhari Kumari Sailja, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Chrandas Mahant, Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Dr. Shivkumar Dahariya, and other senior party leaders, will be present at the meeting.
Kumari Sailja, the Pradesh Congress in-charge, is expected to arrive in Raipur after 1:30 PM to participate in the meeting. The meeting will play a crucial role in shaping the Congress party’s strategy and candidate selection process for the upcoming elections.
BJP’s Strategy and the Role of PM Modi
While the BJP has already announced candidates for 21 constituencies, there is speculation that the party may release a second list of candidates soon. Political circles are abuzz with discussions on whether the BJP will unveil this list shortly after Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Jagdalpur on October 3rd. The party is carefully considering the number of candidates to announce and is strategizing for the Chhattisgarh electoral battle.
In the Central Election Committee meeting, discussions will not only revolve around Chhattisgarh but also encompass the election strategies for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. After the Delhi meeting, BJP’s central leadership will be actively involved in campaigning for the Chhattisgarh elections. It’s noteworthy that this time, the BJP has chosen not to project a Chief Ministerial candidate, indicating that PM Modi and the party will lead the charge in the electoral campaign.
As Chhattisgarh gears up for a high-stakes electoral battle, both the Congress and the BJP are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to secure victory. The upcoming candidate selections are crucial steps in determining the parties’ potential success in the 2023 Vidhan Sabha Elections, and political enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the official announcements from these meetings.
