Evidence of illegal sand mining came to the fore on June 12, when sand smugglers dug up the grave of a woman while illegally mining sand from the Shivnath river near village Mokhla-Jangleshwar in Rajnandgaon district and buried her body at the Royal Kids School in Rajnandgaon. After the dead body of the woman was found in the sand, the police cremated the woman and after this, Maheshwar Sahu, son of the deceased Satrupa Sahu lodged an FIR against unknown smugglers for digging his mother’s grave, but even after the accused were detected, no arrest was made. done.

Former CM Raman Singh had warned of agitation

After this the matter reached the former Chief Minister and Rajnandgaon MLA Dr. Raman Singh and Dr. Raman Singh asked the Rajnandgaon Collector to take action against the sand mafia in this matter and if this did not happen he warned of agitation. After this, the police took quick action and arrested the accused in this case. On the other hand, in this case, Rajnandgaon’s City Superintendent of Police Amit Patel said that action has been taken against the driver and the owner of the vehicle who exhumed the body of the woman from the grave by illegal sand excavation.

No action yet on JCB operator and owner

The accused Mohara resident Haiwa vehicle owner Kailash Devgan and the driver Rajendra Patel, resident of village Machanpar, who brought the dead body of the woman in their vehicle while smuggling illegal sand, have been arrested. On the other hand, action has been taken against the accused for illegally excavating sand and stealing sand minerals under sections of the Mines & Minerals Act, but still no action has been taken against the JCB operator and the owner who dug the woman’s grave from the JCB. .
