CG NEWS: Government employees stopped work due to 5-point demands, lock hanging in offices, warned of indefinite strike if demands are not met

Raipur. On the call of the Chhattisgarh Employees Officer United Front, the employees across the state went on strike on Friday for 5 point demands. The government work came to a standstill due to the work stoppage strike of the employees. There was silence in the government offices across the state including the Ministry, Directorate, Court. In the district, block and tehsil headquarters across the state, the employees took out demonstrations and rallies and handed over a memorandum to the Chief Secretary regarding 5-point demands to the local administration.

Kamal Verma, convenor of the Chhattisgarh Staff Officers Federation, Anil Shukla, the convenor of the federation, Mahendra Singh Rajput, president of the ministerial union, said that if the government does not take a decision in time, then there will be an indefinite strike from August 1. He clearly said that the employees will have to be given house rent allowance in the seventh pay scale similar to that of the Centre.

It may be noted that at present the employees are being given house rent allowance in the sixth pay scale. He told that the government is reluctant to give dearness allowance to the employees from the same due date as that of the Centre. The government constituted the Pingua Committee, but the issues like resolution of salary discrepancy of the employee cadres have not been resolved till today. In the public manifesto, regularization of irregular, contract, daily wage earners, work charged and other employees is mentioned. Which didn’t happen. At the same time, the government did not take any action in the matter of four-tier pay scale.

He told that the government has definitely implemented the old pension scheme. But due to non-calculation of service from the date of first appointment for pension, the comprehensive benefit of the scheme will not be available. Due to technical glitch, other employees including teacher (LB) cadre will not get pension benefits. The government did not take a decision on the demand of reducing the qualifying service for pension to 25 years instead of 33 years. Due to which the anger of the employees has shown in the strike.
