Corporation demolished dilapidated building late night in Bhopal: owner was not vacating even after notice, 781 dilapidated buildings marked in the city

Shikhil Beauhar, Bhopal. In Sonagiri of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, late night Municipal Corporation took action to demolish the dilapidated building. A dilapidated building in Sonagiri, located in BHEL area, was razed to the ground late Friday (July 14) by the encroachment staff of the Municipal Corporation. The house was not vacated even after giving notice. There are still 781 dilapidated buildings in the city. Dilapidated buildings are being demolished by the corporation administration in view of the apprehension of accidents in the rains.

Let us inform that, due to lack of mutual consent between the landlord and the tenants, this action continued till late night. Actually the shopkeepers did not want that the 35 year old dilapidated building should be demolished. There were cracks in the walls of the building, the plaster of the balconies were also uprooted. In such a situation, there was a danger of a big accident. Due to which the Municipal Corporation had issued a notice to the landlord to vacate the building.

SK Rajesh, assistant engineer of zone number 15, said that considering the dilapidated building in Sonagiri as very dilapidated, a notice was issued on April 18, 2023, to vacate the building. Even after the notice, reminder letter was sent several times, yet the building was not vacated. In such a situation, the staff of the Municipal Corporation had reached on Friday afternoon to demolish it. But the shopkeepers started opposing it. Corporation employees had to wait a long time for action. In the same evening, an agreement was reached between the building owner and the shopkeepers. The building owner promised to give them shop rent on priority when the new building is built.
