Central Zone vs East Zone, Duleep Trophy 2023: In the first quarter-final match of Duleep Trophy 2023, Central Zone sealed their place in the semi-finals with a massive 170-run win against East Zone. In this match being played at the Alur Cricket Ground in Bangalore, the hold of the Central Zone team was visible from the very first day of the match. In this match, spin bowler Saurabh Kumar played an important role for the team and took a total of 11 wickets in his name. In this, he took 8 wickets while giving just 33 runs in the second innings and also did the best bowling of his career.
The East Zone team got a target of 300 runs in the fourth innings of this match. After this, by the end of the third day’s play, the team had lost its 6 wickets till the score of 69. On the last day of the match, the second innings of East Zone was reduced to a score of 129 runs. Apart from Saurabh Kumar, Avesh Khan took 4 wickets in this match for the Central Zone.
Abhimanyu Easwaran disappointed in both the innings
In this match, very poor batting performance was seen from both the teams. The Central Zone team was reduced to scoring just 182 runs in their first innings. Rinku Singh played the highest innings of 38 runs in this. After this, the East Zone team was reduced to scoring only 122 runs in their first innings. Team captain Abhimanyu Easwaran could not even succeed in opening his account in this innings.
In the second innings of Central Zone, slightly better batting was seen in which the team managed to reach the score of 239. In this innings, the opening pair shared an important partnership of 124 runs for the Central Zone. On the other hand, East Zone could not do anything special in its second innings as well. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran could manage to score only 11 runs in this innings.
