Election: Modi Government Introduces New Schemes Benefiting a Large Segment Ahead of Elections

Before the upcoming elections, the Modi government has rolled out new schemes, benefiting a significant segment of the population. Approximately 10 crore families stand to gain from these initiatives, indicating that the Modi government is making efforts to create a substantial beneficiary group ahead of the 2024 elections. On one hand, the government has announced an additional subsidy of 300 rupees for those availing of LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme, while on the other hand, it is distributing loans to 1 crore street vendors.

As per the data shared by the government on October 3rd, under the PM-SVANidhi scheme, around 50 street vendors have already received loans. This scheme provides loans of up to 50,000 rupees without the need for a guarantor. It is believed that the government is using this scheme to reach out to a significant segment beyond caste and religion.

It’s worth noting that the PM-SVANidhi scheme was initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing economic assistance in the form of loans of 10,000 rupees. Now, the loan amount has been increased to 50,000 rupees under the same scheme. This initiative aims to prepare a substantial voter base for the BJP government.

The government is working towards targeting nearly 10 crore families through these two schemes. The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which was already in place, is another effort by the government to reach out to farmers. It is possible that the government may increase the amount provided under this scheme as well. Currently, the scheme offers farmers 2,000 rupees three times a year. The PM-SVANidhi scheme is providing loans of 10,000, 20,000, and 50,000 rupees to street vendors, essentially serving as capital for them. The scheme aims to distribute 1 crore loans by the end of the year.
