Former Selector Bhupinder Singh Explain Why BCCI Appointed MS Dhoni As Captain Know Details

Why BCCI Appointed MS Dhoni As Captain: After continuously losing the ICC trophy, the debate on the captaincy of Team India is going on. The Indian team recently lost the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. At the same time, in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup played in 2022, India had to face defeat against England. Meanwhile, former Indian selector Bhupinder Singh told why the BCCI had made Dhoni the captain.

The Indian team last won the ICC trophy in 2013 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the Champions Trophy, since then the team has lost a total of 4 ICC finals and several semi-final matches. Dhoni is the only captain till now to win all three ICC trophies in white ball for India. At the same time, the former selector told what was the reason behind making Dhoni the captain.

Bhupinder Singh told Hindustan Times in an interview, “Apart from being an automatic choice in the team, you look at the player’s cricketing skills, body language, ability to lead from the front and man management skills. We saw Dhoni’s approach towards the game, body language, the way he talked to others and we got a positive response.”

After the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team India has performed well in bilateral series, but has completely failed to win in the ICC Trophy. Virat Kohli took the Indian Test team to new heights, but he too could not win the ICC trophy for the team in any format.

Team India will tour West Indies

In the next month i.e. July, the Indian team will tour West Indies for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20 Internationals. The tour will begin with a Test match to be played in Dominica from 12 July, while the last match of the tour will be played as T20 International in Florida on 13 August.
