Hardik Pandya: The Indian team will tour the West Indies in July. The tour will start from July 12 with a Test to be played in Dominica. Through this test, Team India will start the WTC 2023-25 cycle. After losing the final of the World Test Championship against Australia, many senior players can be dropped from the Indian Test team. At the same time, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya may return to the Test team.
Team India will play two Test matches against West Indies, in which BCCI will discuss about the return of Hardik Pandya. The team for the West Indies tour can be announced next week. Hardik Pandya had distanced himself from the test after his injury. He played his last Test match in 2018 on the tour of England.
Speaking to ‘InsideSport’, a senior BCCI official said, “Hardik is definitely an option but it is up to Hardik himself to decide on Test comeback. The selectors are keen to see him in the white jersey. But is he in a position to play in all three formats, especially considering that he is a key player in ODIs? That is the decision he has to take.”
Will get my place and then come back: Hardik Pandya
Before the final of the World Test Championship played against Australia, Hardik Pandya had said, “If I want to play Test cricket, I will work hard, I will get my place and then come back. For this reason, to be honest, I will not be available or play in the World Test Championship final or any future Test match until I feel I have earned my place.
Hardik’s Test career has been like this so far
Hardik made his Test debut in July 2017, since then he has played 11 Tests. Batting in 18 innings of these matches, he scored 532 runs at an average of 31.29. During this, 1 century and 4 half-centuries have come out of his bat. And in bowling, he has taken 17 wickets at an average of 31.05.
