Indian Team: The Indian team was last seen in action playing the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. Now Team India will tour the West Indies in July, where the Men in Blue will play a series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20 matches. The ODI and Test series for the tour were announced last Friday (June 23), while the T20 squads are yet to be announced.
After watching the test squad, the debate continues. This time many major changes have been made in the Test team by the BCCI. Young players have been given a chance in place of senior players in the team. Star batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and bowler Umesh Yadav have been dropped from the Test squad, while pacer Mohammed Shami has been rested.
‘Times of India’ This was told by a source, “Umesh is troubled by a hamstring injury and is recovering at the National Cricket Academy.” It was told in the report that Pujara has been dropped because the selectors want to give chance to young players. Young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in the Test team.
Doors not closed for any senior player in Team India
The source was quoted as saying, “If Ajinkya Rahane can be made the vice-captain of the Test team after being out for 15 months before the WTC final, then anyone can make a comeback. The doors are not closed for any senior player.”
Said further, “It’s just that you need to start changing somewhere. The selectors don’t want a situation where all the seniors leave the field at once and we have no experienced players left in the dressing room.”
