Sunil Gavaskar on Team India Selection: The Indian team has to play a 2-match Test series on the West Indies tour from 12 July. Regarding this, in the afternoon of 23 June, the selectors of Team India announced the team for the Test and ODI series. Where not much change was seen in the ODI team. At the same time, the selectors have taken some big decisions in the Test team. The selectors dropped Cheteshwar Pujara from the Test team. Now former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his displeasure on this.
Many former players are angry with the ouster of Cheteshwar Pujara. However, his recent form was found to be very bad. He could not do anything special even in the World Test Championship (WTC) final match. In the WTC final, Pujara could only manage to play innings of 14 and 27 runs.
Sunil Gavaskar said in a statement given to a sports website on team selection for this tour of Team India, why only Cheteshwar Pujara was shown the way out of Team India. Only what did he do wrong that the rest of the players did not do. Pujara doesn’t have people who raise slogans when he is out. The rule of excluding a player from the team should be the same for all.
Young players should have got a chance on this tour
In his statement, Sunil Gavaskar further said that young players should have been given a chance in the team for the series against the West Indies. At the end of this year, you have to play the ODI World Cup. In such a situation, you should take care of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. So that he can keep himself fit and feel fresh before entering the main tournament.
