Rishabh Pant As Wicketkeeper In 2024: Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is recovering from his injury these days. Pant is present at the National Cricket Academy, where he is rehabbing. Pant’s condition is improving very fast. However, even after this the question remains whether Pant will be able to do wicketkeeping after recovering or not? Pant has undergone several surgeries after the car accident. Now it has to be seen whether Pant will be able to take the workload of wicketkeeping or not.
While talking to ‘InsideSport’, the BCCI official disclosed about Pant. The official told that it is very difficult to say that Pant will start wicketkeeping directly. The BCCI official said, “Rishabh’s progress is excellent. But at this stage, it would be very difficult to say whether he will start wicketkeeping straightaway or not.”
It was further told that Pant may take 3 to 6 months to start wicketkeeping after returning to practice. The official said, “After returning to practice, it may take 3 months or it may take more than 6 months. We can’t be sure. We all have to take it slowly. Rishabh is still young and he has a lot of time to play cricket. But the kind of injury he has, he cannot rush.
Big concern of Delhi Capitals
Significantly, nothing has been officially cleared regarding Pant’s return. But such speculations are being made that by 2024 he can make a comeback. In such a situation, in the next i.e. IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals can miss Pant’s wicketkeeping. In IPL 2023, David Warner took over the command of Delhi in place of Pant, but the team could not get any solid wicketkeeper like Pant.
Abhishek Pural was tried by the team. Apart from this, Sarfaraz Khan was also given a chance. However, Sarfaraz could not do anything special as a wicketkeeper. In such a situation, next year also Delhi may need replacement of Pant as wicketkeeper.
