Madhya Pradesh’s first woman chief secretary passed away: she was ill for a long time, wave of mourning across the state

Shabbir Ahmed, Bhopal. Former Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Nirmala Buch has passed away. Nirmala Buch was ill for a long time. He breathed his last early this morning. She was 97 years old. There has been a wave of mourning in the state due to his death.

Nirmala Buch was a 1960 batch IAS officer in the Indian Administrative Service. Her husband Mahesh Nilkanth Buch was also an IAS officer. Nirmala has been the first and only woman Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. She held the post of Finance Secretary and Education Secretary in Madhya Pradesh Government from 1975-77 and Chief Secretary in 1991-1992. Nirmala has also been an advisor in the Planning Commission of the Government of India from 1988 to 89. Taking the first step towards women empowerment, he prepared the outline of Panchayati Raj in rural development of Madhya Pradesh.

Nirmala Buch held many important positions in Madhya Pradesh and the Centre. She was a very studious woman and had knowledge of many languages. From 1961 to 1993, she held the positions of administration and management of various departments in the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Government of India and did successful work. Nirmala Yadav, a relentless protector of the dignity of women, a lover of simplicity and promiscuity, when she was the collector in Dewas, was so impressed by the talented personality of MN Buch, the collector of the neighboring district of Ujjain, that the two tied the knot. He has a son.

While holding administrative positions, Nirmala Buch has consistently advocated for government and non-governmental organizations to work together to research, manage, and empower society. The models of development prepared by him proved to be a milestone. The then Chief Minister Uma Bharti had appointed Nirmala Buch as her advisor on becoming the Chief Minister, she has also edited several books.
