Matthew Hayden Promotes Islam Live On-Air During World Cup 2023 Warm-Up Game, Gets Slammed By Fans

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden faced criticism from fans for his comments on Islam during the ICC World Cup 2023 warm-up game between Pakistan and Australia in Hyderabad. While commentating alongside Ramiz Raja, Hayden was asked what he liked about the Pakistan team. In response, Hayden mentioned the role of Islam in the team’s discipline and way of life, which he admired. He highlighted the importance of commitment, investment, and consistency in cricket, comparing them to the principles of Islam.

Matthew Hayden had previously served as the batting consultant for the Pakistan national cricket team during the T20 World Cup 2021 and T20 World Cup 2022. He was appointed to this role by Ramiz Raja, who was the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the time.

Both Hayden and Ramiz Raja are currently part of the commentary panel for the ICC World Cup 2023. As for the Pakistan national team, they are set to open their campaign in the tournament against the Netherlands on 6th October in Hyderabad. However, Pakistan had a challenging start in the warm-up games as they lost to both New Zealand and Australia.

Matthew Hayden and Ramiz Raja promote Islam during World Cup 2023: Why ICC and BCCI must stop cricket from becoming the ground for Islamic conversions.@BCCI @ianuragthakur @narendramodi @AmitShah @PMOIndia @HMOIndia

This is a Cricket World Cup match and not a religious gathering where such teachings can be given ?
Why is this comment between Ramiz Raja and Matthew Hayden being allowed to openly promote and glorify Islam @cricketworldcup?? Is anyone responsible ? https://t.co/4QZY9AA6cm
