Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for its upcoming state elections, and preparations are in full swing. Political parties have begun their election campaigns and are announcing their candidates. As people start speculating about the election schedule, it is expected that the Election Commission may announce the dates for the elections and the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct in the second week of October.
The Election Commission’s team completed its tour of the state in the first week of September to finalize the election preparations. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, elections are also scheduled in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Telangana. The Election Commission’s team will conclude its three-day tour of Telangana on October 3, after which they may announce the election dates for all these states.
In the previous election cycle in 2018, the dates for Madhya Pradesh elections were announced on October 6th, and the elections were held in a single phase on November 28th. In 2013, elections were announced on October 4th, in 2008 on October 14th, and in 2003 on October 12th.
The Election Commission has also completed the preparation of the electoral roll, including the addition and deletion of voters’ names. The final publication of the voter list is expected to be done by the Commission on October 4th.
As the election season unfolds, Madhya Pradesh, like other states, is gearing up for a competitive electoral battle, and the announcement of election dates will mark a significant milestone in this process.
