MP Election 2023: New Experiment in State Assembly Elections: Four Leaders from Different States Deployed on 37 Seats in the Indore Region

In a determined bid to secure power in the state for the fifth consecutive term, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is embarking on a new experiment in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh State Assembly elections. Drawing inspiration from the Gujarat model, the BJP is deploying prominent leaders from various states, each with their unique responsibilities, to oversee the 37 seats in the Indore region.

This innovative strategy involves assigning the responsibility of nine prominent leaders, some of whom have close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Notable among them are former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Goa Cabinet Minister Vishwajit Rane.

Under this arrangement, these leaders are expected to remain within their respective districts until the conclusion of the assembly elections. While the BJP doesn’t consider the Indore region a “safe zone” like the Saffron Zone, it is crucial for the party’s electoral prospects. Among the 37 assembly seats in this region, three are reserved for Scheduled Castes, 19 for Adivasis (tribals), and 15 are general seats. The BJP currently holds 15 seats, while the Congress has 22.

This strategic move underscores the BJP’s determination to make a strong impact in the region and demonstrates the party’s commitment to the Madhya Pradesh elections. The responsibility of the Indore region has been entrusted to Ratnakar, the state organization secretary of Gujarat, who has been consistently touring the region, with a particular focus on Adivasi areas. He is partnered with Raghavendra Gautam, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, as the co-in-charge of the region.

In a noteworthy allocation, Vishwajit Rane, a close associate of Modi and Shah, has been tasked with responsibilities in Indore city. On the other hand, Amit Thakkar, a legislator from Gujarat, has been assigned duties in rural areas. They are each responsible for five and four seats, respectively.

The deployment of these leaders from different states exemplifies the BJP’s commitment to the Madhya Pradesh electoral battle. As the election season progresses, these innovative strategies promise to introduce an intriguing dynamic to the state’s political landscape, with significant stakes for both the BJP and Congress.
