MP Election 2023: Rahul Gandhi to Address Public Rally in Tribal-Dominated Shahdol District

MP Election 2023: After Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s public meeting in Mohankheda, a predominantly tribal district in Dhar, now the party is gearing up for a major and first-ever event in the tribal-majority district of Shahdol in the Vindhya region on October 10th. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at the conclusion of the Jan Aakrosh Yatra in Shahdol.

Preparations led by Party Appointees: To prepare for the event, the Pradesh Congress has appointed former leader of the opposition Ajay Singh and former minister Kamleshwar Patel as coordinators. It’s noteworthy that before this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had engaged in a dialogue with tribals in Shahdol.

30 Assembly Seats in Vindhya Region: The Vindhya region has 30 assembly seats, and in the 2018 elections, Congress won only six seats. This was the party’s weakest performance in the entire state. Ajay Singh, who remained the leader of the opposition in the assembly, lost the election from his traditional stronghold seat. The organization was in disarray.

Kamal Nath Established Committees: Over the past three and a half years, Kamal Nath established booth, block, and sector committees in this region. Ajay Singh ran a program for homecoming, while Kamleshwar Patel, a leader from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), attempted to establish a strong presence in all the party’s important committees. Singrauli, Shahdol, Anuppur, and Umaria are predominantly tribal districts, while Satna, Rewa, and Sidhi have a significant backward class presence.

Two Jan Aakrosh Yatras from the Region: Taking into account the caste and local dynamics, Congress organized two Jan Aakrosh Yatras from this region. One is led by Ajay Singh, and the other by Kamleshwar Patel. Both will conclude their respective yatras in Shahdol on October 10th.

Dialogue with Tribal Society: During the event, Rahul Gandhi will not only address the public meeting but also engage in a dialogue with members of the tribal community. On this occasion, Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath, Pradesh Congress Coordinator General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, and senior leaders, including former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, will be present.
