PCB Chief Najam Sethi Is Not Happy Even After Hosting 2023 Asia Cup Said We Understand The Situation Of BCCI | PCB chief Najam Sethi is not happy even after hosting the Asia Cup, said

Najam Sethi Statement on Asia Cup returns in Pakistan: Najam Sethi, chairman of the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after getting the Asia Cup hosting, said that he understands the position of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The hybrid model was the most viable solution for hosting the Asia Cup 2023.

Significantly, PCB Chief Najam Sethi’s statement came after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to host the 2023 Asia Cup by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid model from August 31 to September 17.

It will be the first time since 2008 that matches of a multi-national cricket tournament will be held in Pakistan, which will host the first four matches of the Asia Cup 2023, followed by Sri Lanka for the rest of the tournament. Sethi said, “I am delighted that our hybrid version for the ACC Asia Cup 2023 has been accepted. This means that the PCB will remain as the event host and stage the matches with Sri Lanka as the neutral venue, which was necessitated by the inability of the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan.”

“Our passionate fans would have loved to see the Indian cricket team in action in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years, but we understand the BCCI’s position,” Sethi said in a PCB statement. Government approval is required first.

The hybrid model of hosting the Asia Cup came about after India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan due to political tensions between the two countries. However, the detailed schedule of Asia Cup 2023 has not been released yet.

Najam Sethi said, “In this background the hybrid model was the best solution and that is why I advocated it so strongly. Acceptance of the hybrid model means that the event will go on as originally planned, the ACC will remain together and united, and The game of cricket will continue to flourish and grow in interesting and exciting times for cricket fans in the subcontinent over the coming 20 months.”
