Raipur. The National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission will speed up the activities of sickle cell investigation and its prevention in the state. The state government is already working seriously for its eradication. Recently, the foundation stone of the Center of Excellence of Sickle Cell Institute has also been laid in Raipur. Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister TS Singhdev said these things today on the occasion of the launch of the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission by the Government of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the mission at the national level from Shahdol.
Health Minister Singhdev joined the inauguration program through video conference from Rajatalab Humar Hospital in Raipur. During this, MP Sunil Soni, former MLA Nande Sahu, Health Department Secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, Director of National Health Mission Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan and Councilor Akash Tiwari were also present.
One out of every ten sickle cell carrier in Chhattisgarh: Singhdev
On the occasion of the launch of the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission, Health Minister Singhdev said that sickle cell test must be done before marriage and before the birth of a child. One out of every ten people in Chhattisgarh is sickle cell carrier. Everyone should get it checked. POC kit is also being procured by the health department for the examination of sickle cell. He said that awareness among people about this disease is increasing now. Now there is very little chance of blood transfusion or hospitalization for its victims. Health Minister distributed sickle cell genetic status card to 30 sickle cell patients in the program.

Doctors honored
Singhdev, who reached Rajatalab Humar Hospital to participate in the launch program of the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission, visited the hospital and reviewed the arrangements. He provided huge baskets of calcium and iron tablets to the pregnant women in the programme. The Health Minister also honored all the doctors present in the program on National Doctor’s Day today.
Mission will be run in 278 districts of 17 states
The National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission has been launched today by the Government of India to eradicate the genetic disease sickle cell in the country. To eliminate sickle cell by the year 2047, this mission will be conducted in 278 districts of 17 states of the country. All 33 districts of Chhattisgarh have been included in this mission. Under the mission, block-wise people will be told about the causes of sickle cell and preventive measures. Along with this, necessary investigation and treatment will also be provided. During its launch program in the state, Joint Director of Health Department Dr. Surendra Pambhoi, Deputy Director Dr. KR Sonwani, Raipur’s Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Mithilesh Chowdhary and Civil Surgeon Dr. SK Bhandari along with Health Department and National Health Mission. Many officers were present.
