Rajasthan Election 2023: Prime Minister Modi’s Multi-Billion-Dollar Gift to Rajasthan Ahead of Assembly Elections

Rajasthan Election 2023: Before the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan kick into high gear, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state and initiated several projects in Jodhpur. These projects, with a combined cost of over 5900 crores, span various sectors such as road infrastructure, railways, aviation, healthcare, and higher education. Among them are the Jodhpur IIT, the AIIMS Trauma Center Extension, and a new airport terminal. During his visit to Jodhpur, Prime Minister Modi praised the state’s rich history and cultural heritage, emphasizing its significance on the global stage.

Revamping Healthcare Infrastructure

Under these initiatives, Jodhpur will see the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with a 350-bed trauma center and a critical care hospital block. Furthermore, seven critical care blocks will be developed under the Prime Minister’s Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) across Rajasthan. These blocks will include facilities for triage, diagnostics, day care, wards, private rooms, modular operating theaters, intensive care units, and dialysis units, providing comprehensive care for trauma and emergency cases. The development of critical care blocks across Rajasthan will enhance healthcare services at the district level.

Modernizing Air Travel

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation for a state-of-the-art new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport. With an estimated cost of 480 crores, the new terminal building will cover approximately 24,000 square meters and be fully equipped to serve 2,500 passengers during peak hours. It is expected to cater to around 35 lakh passengers annually, improving connectivity in the region and boosting tourism.

Fostering Quality Education

The Prime Minister dedicated the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur campus, emphasizing its role in providing high-quality education and contributing to research and innovation. The modern campus, constructed at a cost exceeding 1135 crores, includes central facilities for basic infrastructure development at the Central University of Rajasthan, such as a central library, a 600-student capacity hostel, and a dining hall for students. This initiative will bolster educational opportunities in the region and support the foundation of a robust academic framework.

Road Infrastructure Development

With the aim of enhancing the foundational structure of roads in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation for several road development projects, including the four-laning of the NH-125E from Karwad to Dangiawas, among others. These projects, with an estimated cost of approximately 1475 crores, will not only improve road connectivity but also stimulate business growth, generate employment, and contribute to economic development in the region.

Railway Connectivity

Prime Minister Modi flagged off two new train services from Jodhpur, further augmenting railway connectivity in the state. These include the Runicha Express, connecting Jodhpur, Degana, Kuchaman City, Phulera, Ringas, Shrimadhopur, Neem Ka Thana, Narnaul, and Ateli Rewari, significantly improving the connectivity of the national capital with all these cities. Additionally, the new Heritage Train connecting Marwar Junction to Khambhali Ghat is expected to boost tourism and create job opportunities in the region.

In addition to these initiatives, Prime Minister Modi announced two other railway projects dedicated to the nation: the doubling of the Degaña Ray Ka Bagh railway line spanning 145 kilometers and the Degaña-Kuchaman City railway line spanning 58 kilometers.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Rajasthan heralds a new era of development and connectivity in the state, with these projects expected to have a transformative impact on the region’s infrastructure, healthcare, education, and transportation sectors.
