Shreyas Iyer Doubtful For ODI World Cup 2023: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the official schedule of the ODI World Cup to be held in India on 27 June. With this, all the teams participating in this mega event now have less than 100 days left to prepare. On the other hand, the host India may get a big blow before the tournament in the form of Shreyas Iyer, who is still not fully fit with his back injury.

Because of Shreyas Iyer’s back problem, he had decided to undergo surgery for it. After this everyone expected him to be fully fit till the Asia Cup. Due to surgery, Iyer was completely out of the 16th season of IPL. Now the medical team of BCCI has expressed concern about his slow recovery.

Regarding Iyer’s recovery, a senior BCCI official said in a statement to Inside Sport that he is hopeful that he will be fit till the World Cup, but he cannot say anything with certainty about this. Whereas Rahul and Bumrah recovery is moving in a much better direction.

Suryakumar Yadav or Sanju Samson may get a chance

Before the ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian team will get the Asia Cup as a big tournament to test their preparations. If Shreyas Iyer is ruled out of the mega event, then Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson will get a chance to make a place in the main team. Both these players are considered to be very good at playing spin bowling. Apart from this, he also has the ability to score runs in the middle order with speed. Team India will start its campaign in the ODI World Cup with a match against Australia on 8 October.
